Mollybolt Longies

MollyBolt

The longies fit great and are the perfect color. My pictures don't do them justice all, but it's so hard to get Benny to sit still these days.

I broke 3 needles on my serger last night...

I enjoy sewing. I enjoy the fact that I can totally focus on something other than all the stuff going on around me.

However, there are somethings I REALLY hate about sewing.

I hate breaking needles on the serger and I hate threading the serger. Luckily, when the serger has me beyond ticked, the serger elf (my husband) helps me out.

But, I'm trying to stay accountable on my diapers that are in the making.

Last night I sewed all the snap-in soakers and did the front snaps (with the help of the snap elf). I have 54 more snaps to snap and to sew my top soaker to my bottom soaker and these diapers are a go for our rotation.

I also used eyeliner as my marker for where to put snaps. I hope it won't run and stain in the wash.

Diapers!

The sweatshop was open in full force this weekend. I had enough minky to make 6 diapers and that's what I did. I'm not done yet, but in all fairness my serger is spawn of the devil.

The top 2 are just have a flannel outer and the bottom four have a knit outer (courtesy of my Aunt). There is a french terry hidden layer (JoAnn's had is marked as "unknown" and I paid $2 a yard). The inner layer is a super soft yellow minky that I bought awhile ago and just put off making.

Is there a trick to minky that I'm missing? I had yellow fuzzies EVERYWHERE.

The snap in soakers are still in construction. I'm going to do two thinner soakers so I can save on drying time. The top soaker will be minky, zorb, french terry pee patch, and hemp fleece and the bottom soaker will be hemp fleece, zorb, french terry pee patch, and flannel. Velcro will kill my zorb so I need to keep it hidden, and the extra pee patches are for my very heavy front peeing little boy.

During naptime I'll cut my hemp fleece and get the soakers ready to sew. Hopefully, tonight when Brandon is home I'll be able to assemble. Benny wakes up when I'm using the machine... so there is no sewing during naptime :(

And I know there is pink in the diapers, but my boys will rock the pink.

Longies take 3

Action shots will come later, but they finally have an almost perfect fit.

I used wool from knitpicks again and it was a little pilly. Hopefully they don't pill to quick/often so I won't have to shave them all the time.

I'll wash them this afternoon in my face of the wave wool wash. It's yummy.

Tunisian Longies - Take 2

Not big enough, but good thing I'm having another one to fit into them! The orange is really even better in person.

I'm becoming a master of tunisian in the round. There aren't any helpful youtube videos online so I basically figured it out myself with the help of a slide show. If someone was new to tunisian I don't think they would get the picture slideshow. I just played around with my double ended crochet hook until I finally got it.

Hopefully, for all my CWCB mamas who want to learn how to do it I'll be able to make a video and get it up sometime this weekend or next.

My Aunt Betty told me I'm capable of writing a pattern, but I really don't know. I've never even read a real tunisian crochet pattern. I just do the math in my head and figure it out as I go along. Heck, I don't even use commerical patterns when I sew.

Right now I don't want to give my pattern up until I decide if I want to sell or not. I'm in the process of trading wool for diapers - once I know what others really think I'll decide.

Tunisian in the Round... take one

Too big in the front, legs too wide, sloppy butt pouch.

It was the first pair of wool I ever washed... someone could have warned me it was going to smell like wet sheep.

Crafty Blogging

I have a personal blog which I'll continue to write about all the gross things that come with parenting, but I wanted to blog about my craft creations/trades/bought goodies for cloth diapers.
